My most used 3D prints

I tend not to print 3D gizmos and ‘tat’ but try to keep things functional. Here are the most used prints that I use daily or often.

No-Spill Cup Holder

A no-spill mug holder. I have two of these, one for work and one for home. Some laugh at them, and some are amazed, but it’s simple physics. They do prevent the hot beverage spills I see around the office.

The yellow pad is a section of thick sponge cloth. It stops the cup from sliding and mops up any moisture picked up from the worktop.

I printed this at 75% of the original size for a 750ml cup. The design can be found here. I didn’t print the handle and used a thick cord (from a gift bag) to give additional movement.

These models were printed in PLA, and the two parts were fixed together with CA clue (super glue). I have had no issues or any sign of problems with strength.

Aeropress Adapter for Large Mugs

My Aeropress adapter for my large mug allows me to use my large-rimmed coffee mug. I designed and printed a simple adapter to safely use the coffee press on cups larger than its base. I even made one for a colleague whose coffee-making looked like an accident waiting to happen.

I’ve redesigned this in Fusion 360 recently to use less filament. The added bonus for this design is it now allows better airflow and an easier press, not that it was difficult on the old version.

This was printed in PETG.

AirTag Holder

This is a key ring for one of my AirTags.

The model can be downloaded here. There are plenty of other designs, but this one worked.

Electric Toothbrush Stand

One item I use daily but forget about is my electric toothbrush stand. I like to keep my toothbrush standing up, so I printed a stand so it doesn’t easily fall over.

I would have downloaded this design, but I can’t find where I got it from.

Battery Holder

This could be classified as tat, but it holds used batteries before they are recycled. The insert can be printed for AA or AAA batteries.

There are so many different designs for battery holders on the Internet. I found this one on Thingiverse.

Bag Clips

I have printed various types. Again these could be classified as tat, but they are occasionally handy.

Phone Holders

Made for my office, it is used whenever I am at my desk. It could be designed to use less plastic; I will do that one day or download one someone else has created. I’ve made several for my team, and they are regularly used.

I designed and printed a holder before MagSafe with a wireless charger and an iPhone X.

This is the MagSade holder I printed from here. It works well and is one of the 3D prints I use daily without thinking about it.

So those are some of the things I have printed or created in the past. I’ve been printing on my trusty five-year-old Wanhao Duplicator i3 Plus. It’s been unmodified, and the nozzle has only been replaced once.
